Kino Klassika works in collaboration with Lombard Odier Private Bank to host a rare gala screening of Larisa Shepitko and Andrei Smirnov’s once banned film, Beginning of an Unknown Century, on International Women’s Day. The Lombard Odier gala is the highlight of our film season, A WORLD TO WIN.
Bringing together our Kino Klassika donors, Lombard Odier film club and our friends at Art Social at a champagne reception, kindly hosted with Art Social Club, before the screening, and then a private dinner at Scott’s Mayfair, hosted by Duncan Macintyre, CEO of Lombard Odier UK after, we were able to celebrate the role of women in film and shine a spotlight on the work of Larisa Shepitko, one of Russia’s most important and most overlooked female film directors.
Guests attending the sold out screening from the British and Russian business and arts communities included chair of the Russo-British chamber of Commerce, Roger Munnings CBE, Earl Clanwilliam, Duncan Macintyre, CEO of Lombard Odier UK, Alina Uspenskaya, founder of Art Social, Marina Fedun, Denis Shafranik and Natasha Pochekutova and many others.
At Lombard Odier we take pride in challenging ourselves to find the best possible financial solutions for our clients. We are delighted to support Kino Klassika in its own ambition to challenge audiences with the best of classic Russian cinema programming.
