Eisenstein’s October with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican
Our partnership with the London Symphony Orchestra, European Filmharmonie and Barbican Centre on 26 October 2017 to deliver a landmark screening of Eisenstein’s October on the centenary of the revolution is the culmination of Kino Klassika’s two year Eisenstein programme building interest in, audience around, research about and funding for Sergei Eisenstein’s remarkable filmmaking legacy across the arts…
The October screening will be the British premiere of the Munich Film Archive’s restored version of the film with the original 1926 Meisel score following its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in 2012. The screening will follow on from our spring film programme ‘Revolution: A World to Win’ season at Regent St. It is positioned at the centre of the Barbican’s ‘Year of Film’, to benefit from their programming and events to celebrate film in arts and learning projects.
We are currently working on complimentary programming around the concert screening to ensure Eisenstein’s October’s position as the film highlight of next year’s Revolution Centenary programming. These will include film commissions, debates and side panel lectures in the run up to the screening itself.
