October with the London Symphony Orchestra
The October screening with the London Symphony Orchestra is the British premiere of the Munich Film Archive’s restored version. The original 1926 Edmund Meisel score accompanies the film. The screening follows the world premiere of this restoration at the Berlin Film Festival in 2012. It also follows on from our spring film programme ‘A WORLD TO WIN’. Furthermore, October occupies the central place in the Barbican’s ‘Year of Film’. Therefore, the screening benefits from Barbican programming to celebrate the role of Film in arts and learning projects.
Similarly, Kino Klassika is working on additional programming to ensure Eisenstein’s October’s position as the film highlight of Revolution 100 programming. These will include film commissions, debates and side panel lectures in the run up to the screening itself.
