Kino Klassika’s second annual International Women’s Day gala this year will see Kira Muratova’s 1967 romantic drama
Brief Encounters screened on March 8th at Soho House. This gala evening will be in collaboration with Veuve Clicquot.

This two-part omnibus film was commissioned to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Revolution. Deemed too dark by Brezhnev’s censors, the film was immediately shelved, and first shown only twenty years later in 1987.

Marx proclaimed that throwing off its chains, the proleteriat had a world to win. Kino Klassika will host a season of screenings, talks and events with Regent Street Cinema to mark the centenary of the October Revolution. The season opens with Sergei Eisenstein’s Battleship Potemkin, the iconic film the revolution inspired, and goes on to examine a century of revolution on film.
